JAKARTA - Research in Motin (RIM), introduced the Blackberry Tag. application called RIM Co-CEO Jim Balsillie as a new way for BlackBerry smartphone users to relate to one another and share multimedia content.
Blackberry Tag will be included on the Blackberry operating system update 7. This feature allows users to share contacts, documents, URLs, images, and other multimedia content to do the 'tapping' is simple on their BlackBerry smartphones. Blackberry Tag also allows users to easily add friends to contact BBM (BlackBerry ® Messenger).
"Blackberry Tag is an innovative and exciting features that will make the contact information-sharing activities and multimedia content becomes more easily and smoothly," said Jim Balsillie. Blackberry Tag utilize technology called Near Field Communications (NFC) in the Blackberry smartphone that was recently launched, namely the Blackberry Bold and Blackberry ® Curve 9900/9930 9350/9360/9370. Range smartphone is the first BlackBerry smartphone to support BlackBerry Tag this feature.
RIM also announced plans to open access to Blackberry Tag via an API (application programming interface) Blackberry platform. This plan will allow software developers to utilize the function of "tap to share" in the various applications made by them.
